Employment Opportunity Business Advisor – Investment and Commercialization REPORTING TO: Vice President, Investment and Commercialization POSITION SUMMARY: The Business Advisor is a full time position within the Investment and Commercialization Group (ICG) at OCRI. This position reports directly to the Vice President and supports Business Advisory Services delivered to start up and emerging company clients in the Ottawa region. The Business Advisor works directly with both the Vice President and the Entrepreneurs in Residence to help entrepreneurs focus on various aspects of corporate development from business modelling and sales strategy development through to financial engineering and investor readiness. The incumbent also coordinates marketing intelligence and mentorship activities with relevant team members on behalf of clients and participates and supports other activities related to the connection of clients to targeted individuals through the extensive network. The position is also responsible for: • Providing guidance to Investment and Commercialization Group (ICG) portfolio companies under the direction of the Vice President by: • Working with assigned companies in the portfolio to achieve milestones related to corporate development activities specifically outlined by company management and ICG • In partnership with the Investment Coordinator, managing company files and administration of information • Works directly with Entrepreneurs in Residence, providing briefings and managing meetings, and reporting between EIR’s and portfolio companies • Ensure portfolio company management receive access to other relevant resources provided through the ICG • Liaise with stakeholders like IRAP, OCE, Precarn, angel investors and others where appropriate • Works with the ICG team on communication to

    both portfolio companies, investors and other stakeholders directly and at targeted events and activities • Requires minimal direction and responds to action items in a timely manner, including in absence of management. • Participates in making recommendations on operations, and communications processes, and other areas affecting client support and service delivery.
