Remove Content Advisor Password

Content Advisor Password Remover v1.01
Copyright (C) 2002 - 2007 Nir Sofer
Content Advisor is a feature in Internet Explorer that allows supervisors to restrict the web sites that the users can browse. The supervisor can set a password in order to prevent from other users from changing the Content Advisor properties. If the supervisor forgets the password, he cannot change the Content Advisor properties in the regular way. The simplest way to solve this problem is to delete the password in the Registry. The password is stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Ratings. The "Key" value represents the encrypted password.
Advanced users can easily delete the password from the registry and thus they don't need this utility. User who doesn't want to deal with the registry, can use my utility for deleting the Content Advisor Password. This utility is released as freeware. You can freely use and distribute

it. If you distribute this utility, you must include all files in the distribution package including the source code, without any modification ! The software is provided "AS IS" without any warranty, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. The author will not be liable for any special, incidental, consequential or indirect damages due to loss of data or any other reason.

  • Version 1.00 - First release.
In order to use this utility you don't have to install anything. Run the executable (conadvpass.exe). You will be asked if you want to remove the Content Advisor password.
