Betting Picks for tonight: San Antonio Spurs vs. New York Knicks
The San Antonio Spurs bounced back from their disappointing rodeo road trip by winning five out of their six games on the home stand. The lone loss was a heartbreaking overtime game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Spurs seem to have turned a corner recently, and the competitive game against the Cavaliers is a good sign. Getting as high as the three seed in the Western Conference is possible, but they can’t afford to lose many games the rest of the way. They will travel to New York to face the Knicks in what should be a pretty easy game for the Spurs.
The unfortunate thing for San Antonio is that they may be without Manu Ginobili for a while. Ginobili suffered a scary injury in their blowout win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in their last game. Luckily, it is just a sprained ankle, so he may only miss a week or two. They will miss him long-term, but they shouldn’t miss him too much in this game.
Kawhi Leonard is starting to play like a NBA Finals MVP now. The Spurs have been waiting for him to get into form and it’s finally happening. Combine that with a healthy Tim Duncan and Tony Parker and you have a streaking Spurs team. San Antonio didn’t have any trouble taking care of the Knicks the first time they played them, and we don’t see there being any issues this time either.
The Knicks continue to be easily the worst team in the NBA for a variety of reasons. They
have scored 90 or more points only twice in their last eight games. They gave up 90 or more points in all but one of those eight games. Playing with a relatively unknown roster with no star player, and a first year head coach, has doomed the Knicks this season to the point where they aren’t really even playing for pride anymore.
It’s hard to see the Knicks keeping this game close for any amount of time. They came out with a solid effort against Phoenix in their last game, but still ended up faltering in the second half. It will take heroic efforts from most of the starters for the Knicks to be able to pull off the upset against the Spurs.
San Antonio hasn’t been a very reliable team against the spread this season, but look for them to blow out the Knicks in this one. They demolished the Timberwolves in their last game, so we are expecting a similar performance in this one. Depending on the point spread that you can get, strongly consider taking the San Antonio Spurs for your NBA picks against the spread. The loss of Ginobili won’t be felt in this game since the Spurs are just too talented across the board. The Knicks will be lucky if they score more than 90 points in this game. Too many factors are pointing to this being a blowout game, so we don’t expect anything to be different. Take the Spurs to win very comfortably.
